Anyone know when the chipset is released? I'm about to buy a new video card and looking at the NVidia and ATI 9700 cards, however if the NVidia is due to be released shortly then I'll wait.

According to the Inquirer the new card (using NV30) will be called the GeForce FX and should be available early in February. Link to story. NVidia seems to release it's new and shiny card at around the £300 mark. Do you really need all that power? The price of top-end GF4's (i.e. Ti4600's) will take a hit once the NV30 is released. Even that will run most current games at respectable frame-rates. Unless you're looking at playing games like Unreal Tournament 2003 or the new Doom title at highest detail and huge resolutions! Tempting, I know... but worth the money?

I don't really need all that power, but as I'm buying a new PC I though I may as well go for the top spec that's available. If the new card is due to be launched in the next few months - which it sounds like it is - then I'll use my current Kyro II card for the time being.
