I am tryng to link a laptop to a Kenwood car screen !
Can get an image up but the quality isnt great !
Do I need some sort of interface between the two ?
I am using a yellow TV out put from the laptop

You shouldn't need anything else, assuming you're using the TV-out.

Make sure that your resolution is low-ish (640x480 or 800x600 max) as most video encoders don't work well above these resolution

I presume the screen is TFT ? The PC must be set to the designed resolution of the screen. unlike a CRT, if a TFT is used with anything other than the intended resolution is looks complete and utter sh*te.

Just as general info, the kenwood doesn't take VGA input, it only takes composite or SVHS, so the refresh rate is fixed...
