This morning I've become a dba
Got an error message on SQL saying the transaction log is full, checking the log drive and it sure is
Question is, how do I reduce it?, ran truncate log file, says it has but the file is the same size with no free space still.
Can anyone offer any help? Got an MCSE sitting next to me, who has passed his SQL exam, he hasn't got a clue. Another example of the worth of an MSCE
Cheers
John

Right click on the database in question and click on properties.
Click on the Transaction Log tab.
In the Maximum file size bit, click on the Restrict File Growth (MB) button and set the file size to be, say, 2MB.

Thanks, actually did it when I truncated the transaction log, I assumed the free space would go up after I did this, obviously don't
