cookies/programs not deleting in windows XP
#1
I have two questions , and go easy on the technical stuff, as I'm not very computer literate, thanx.
1. one of my kids has downloaded something called "Bonzi Buddy" which is supposed to help with the internet. We defo do not want this thing any longer. It pops up all the time, and constantly asks us if we want this, or that update. I've tried to delete it, but get a message saying my computer can't accesss the relevant file. Help!
2. we use hotmail. Whenever I go into it, I get one of my kids e-mail address, and old password,(hidden), displayed, which has to be highlighted and deleted b4 I can get in. It wasn't like this when I got the computer, obviously. I've tried deleting cookies from my internet settings, even been in and told it never to use cookies for hotmail, but to no avail. What can I try next, please?

Re: the hotmail thing, there should be an option on the startup page for hotmail which says "Security Options". If you set the option to 'Public/Shared Computer', it should stop the site from storing cookies, so that whoever logs into the account will not have their password rememberd for next time.
If that doesn't solve it, go to Internet Settings via the control panel, and switch to the 'Content' Tab. Click the 'AutoComplete' button, and you can clear the autocompleted passwords which IE remembers.

Cheers for that. The "Bonzi Buddy" thing worked great, and is now gone, thank God.
The Hotmail thing is more persistent. It won't let me change the security settings, every time I do, it defaults back to it's original setting. I've been into the internet settings, clicked on "autocomplete", cleared passwords, and no result. I even tried doing all that, then restarteing the computer, but it just comes up as b4.
Any more ideas, as it's driving me batsh1t?
