I've been asked to recomend a digital stills camera for someone at work. I need to give three options for price (£200, £300, £400). I don't know much about these. Can anyone rfecoment any, or advise a website for reviews?

It needs to...

1. Be easy to use (point and click)
2. Have zoom funtion
3. Download to PC via USB
4. Decent quality pics

???

Go buy this month's "What Digital Camera", as there's an article called "cool pics for chicks" or something like that (I kid you not) where they give 6 women 6 different cameras, and swap 'em all around.

Group winner was the Fuji 401. 2MP, 3x zoom. Close behind was the Minolta Dimage X, which is being reduced to around 250 quid in various places now...

Really depends what you're looking for. Personally, my budget was a maximum of £300 but that had to include a memory card. I had the choice down to three Canons - the Ixus v2, Ixus 330 and the Powershot A40. Most important thing to me was that it was idiot proof.I also couldn't be bothered with rechargeable AA batteries, so that left me with the v2 and 330. I ended up going for the v2 and am delighted with it (I would say that though).

I ordered through Cameras Direct and they delivered next day.

Hope this helps,

Gamm

Love my Konica KD-400Z. Think it fits the bill exactly.

I got a Canon Powershot A40 too. Very pleased with it. And now under £200 with a 32meg card thrown in at a lot of places.

"VERDICT: Despite having just a 2.1-megapixel CCD, the Canon produced some of the best images in this category. With heavyweight features and a low price, it's a great buy."

"The PowerShot A40 defies the odds. How can a camera at this price include a huge amount of high-end features yet beat its budget rivals for quality hands down? We don't know the answer, but our advice is not to worry and to just go and buy it, because this camera is an absolute bargain."

Has sample pics on that link

Buy one of them for £200 and get a 128MB CF card from Dabs.com or Crucial.Com/UK and sorted.

Thanks for the recomendations. We already have a Canon A50, which has done the job nicely so far, so the A40 is a definite possibility.

Cheers
