have you got cable? NTL do a cheapest of the cheap broadband at £15/month for a 128k line, else it's about £25/month for a faster 512k if you subscript to their digital service as well.

have a look at www.adslguide.org.uk and www.ispreview.co.uk for broadband provider. companies that spring to mind are plus.net, pipex, nildram and v21.

I'm currently using Plusnet and have no quibbles. £22.99 (inc) and I'm on a monthly contractly.
I'd definitely go to the ADSL Guide to make a comparison of all the companies first.

cheapest is www.fairadsl.co.uk at 19 per month all in.

their hardware does not seem great though, so buy a router or something.

check adslguide.co.uk for hardware.

Can anyone recommend someone that will supply broadband down a phone line, without a Credit Card.. for a Mate.

He has no cable in his street either... and due to *problems* in his past is unable to get a switch/visa etc...

Hello Mike - Liked your Zorst when you came by us parked up in the layby

Go for the £20/month deal with Pipex as it is as cheap as you will get it - it WILL be plus VAT as BT Wholesale charge us ISP's £50 + VAT to convert the phone lines

I am happy to send you a USB Modem (Zyxel Prestige 630) and a line filter at cost - should be around £50 inc P&P and Inc VAT

I am with Plus Net and they will do the subscriptions though Direct Debit.

No issues, no hassles and a very helpful bunch when you call them, they even answer e-mail!

Oh and their support lines are local rate numbers!

If you are intesrested let me now and I will refer you to them... they reduce the bill if you refer people!

Do I get it cheaper aswell if you refer me or is it just you?

How do i start getting BB? should I buy my modem seperately or through the service provider?

How much do I have to pay through plusnet a month? How much is the activation fee?

I want to get BB but it seems to be very expensive when you first get with the equioment charges, connection fee, activation fee, etc

You have to pay the activation fee to the ISP you rent the BB service off and you usually have to pay for the monthly rental of the service in advance.

You don't have to buy hardware from same ISP (though most seem to) as you can get your ISP to give you "wires only". this means you have to find your own Modem or Router and line filters as the ISP will only give you a Username and Password (the IP Address you get is associated with this) and activate the line.

Starting out the cost can seem expensive but believe me, so is buying a scooby! (hang on, BB is cheap to run, unlike my petrol guzzler )
