I am looking to purchase the following:

AMD XP CPU 2 GHz
DDR 512 Ram
40 gb Harddisk
64 MB Geforce Graphics card
Liteon 48x CDRW
DVD ROM

I have been qouted £490 for the above, inc case, PSU, etc. But no Monitor or mouse/keyboard.

He has suggested that I have RAID and two 40gb harddisks. This will leave the two IDE channels free. Not sure if I should go for RAID.

Anyone suggests any other spec.

depending how much you wanna spend, flick through some computer magazines in a corner shop for the best spec/PCs for your price range.

some of the good ones are like everham and mesh.

This PC is mostly going to be used to burn CD's and in a couple of months time it will have a DVD RW.

Get the best/fastest components you can afford now - helps delay redundancy by a couple of months. esp. CPU side of things.
