Anyone else remember Rainbow Islands & Bubble Bobble?
#2
so far ive got most of what people have listed and am saddened to say that apart from commando/bombjack/bubble bobble + rainbow islands some of the perceived classics from our childhood are in fact pony hehehehe
raid on bungeling bay being a prime example, was a great game, try it now and try to keep playing it through gritted teeth two mins later hehehe.
jet pac was ace, but you forgot sabre wulf and quite a few others that ive long since forgotten lol.

I remember that this was out on all sorts of platforms, at the time I had it for my Commodore 64 and then my Amiga - and I loved it - many a happy hour was spent throwing rainbows and collecting diamonds, followed by much swearing & cursing when the end of level baddie took away my rainbow power ups!
I seem to remember it being re-released for the PS1 (when the PS1 was still new) in a double pack - Bubble Bobble and Rainbow Islands together, along with an enhanced version of Rainbow Islands specifically for the PSX.
I'd like to get hold of it if I can, to take me back to my youth (anyone else remember the New Zealand Story?), but I've tried an ebay search, not much there, I've also tried Amazon and Play - no joy.
Ideally I'd like the PSX version, but if I can't find it I guess I'll make do with a PC emulator version. Any ideas as to where I might be able to find a copy?

That was Bubble Bobble, yes. They spat little bubbles to trap the baddies, and the bubbles could be burst by the dragons tails.
In Rainbow Islands Bub and Bob were back to being human, and killed their baddies by throwing rainbows at them, then jumping onto the rainbows to crush them.
Must be showing my age now, the 8bit (and some of the 16bit) days were when gameplay was king. I remember many a dodgy coin-op conversion (Chase HQ anyone?) and movie tie-in though...

Ptholt - do you remember the 2 player sequel to Commando, Ikari Warriors? That was great in 2 player mode.
Then there were fantastic 2 player games like SWIV/Silkworm on the Amiga. Lovely job.
Seem to remember playing Buggy Boy quite a bit too....

Feel free mate, the disk would be cool as it save me going up into the loft!
The car on the drive, well it's not mine so it's not an issue!! Also we had an attempted break in on the car after having it for less than 3 days, hence it's on the drive and mine's on the road!!
