If I am supplying and building a new server for a client can I buy OEM licenses for Win2k Server and install these?

One of my suppliers reckons we have to be registered with Microsoft as a 'Systems Builder' to qualify.

Anyone got a quick answer or do I have to ring MS

Cheers,

Phil

The problem with OEM licenses is you are only allowed to install it on the hardware it came with, and be able to prove this

Just thought I'll let you all know

If you are supplying the server and software as a complete solution you will be able to pass on the software and associated licence provided the asset transfers to the third party.

I do this all the time and MS are fine.

Sorry Chris thats was the case but is no more. MS have yet again changed thier rules and OEM software must be pre-installed by an authorised resller with engineers with the various irrelevant qulaifications.
