Unhappy

Needed to upgrade about 50 Dell OptiPlex GX110's here @ work. Checked what modules would be needed from the Crucial website and found that they quoted PC100 SDRAM. This particular model has 2 slots with seperate banks, so you can install single modules.

So, off I went and ordered a whole bunch of TwinMOS 256Mb PC100 CL2 modules.

Trouble is, the boxes won't recognise the RAM whether it's in a single slot or as a pair

Anyone upgraded these types of desktops before?

Stefan

I haven't come across a problem with matched aftermarket RAM in any Dell workstations yet, but there is always a first. I have never liked the TwinMOS sticks at all, apart from their latest DDR sticks.

If you don't get a decent answer, it might be worth getting 1 stick of gx110-compatable ram from Crucial(Micron).

You have probably considered this already though

Wink

Don't worry Nick, I'm used to you stating the obvious

I'll try another brand of SDRAM to see if it's just the TwinMOS stuff. I bought it from Komplett who shipped the stuff from Oslo

Hope it's a simple process getting it back to them.

Bought some DDR from Crucial (who are based about 40miles away) and had no probs. Will probably just go with them if it will take that type of module.

Cheers,
Stefan
