help, need printer urgent, but it wont print black ink, only uses the colour
tried the held cleaner etc, and the black ink cartridge is over half full!

any ideas what to try?

i just printed a word document, it came out blank, then a message saying there is no information for this printer. it was fine earlier

printer is 'Epson Stylus Color 460'

done the nozzle check, its only using blue ink from the colour cartridge, and not using the red or yellow colours.

therefore, is it something to do with the signal to the printer etc rather than the cartridges?

Tried doing a test page on the printer (not the windows one, but a combo of button presses)..

Not sure how, will find an epson manual in a sec..

I think it's this, not sure..

Hold down Paper Feed and turn the printer on. The printer should then print a test page, if that prints ok, it's a PC problem, if not, printer. Should just help us establish the problem.

 

Are you using the original cartridges or rip off versions. I use the 2nd and have come across a few that show ink on the printer bar but are actually empty. If you cannot any BLACK to paper I guess the cartridge is empty. Put another in see if it works cover the other with tape

swapped the colour cartridge, its no only printing the pink colour

they are the rip off ones yes, but have been ok til now.

just tried that, it done the test feed, but still only printed pink

i'll try reloading the printer software off the cdrom, see if that works...

 

you'll probably have to change the cartridge
