Has anyone looked into this recently and found any particularly good package deals for the XBox they could point me towards?

Moray - if you are wanting to buy a pre-chipped one with the new executer chip, allows everything to be played, no swap tricks required, then try:

www.playstationchips.co.uk the guy is called Graham & I have had ps2 & x-box from him.
I know the prices have just dropped by £40-£50 from when I purchased mine about 3 weeks ago:sad:
