Hello,
Nice to see my WRX got around so fast :-)
It's actually a 1/8 scale Kyosho body. The 1/10 scale shells are too small to get all the components in, as the DVD drive takes up most of the front of the car.

yeah - well done wrxpc-guy and the guy who made the nissan one...
i take it you bought a small integrated motherboard - i.e. the type of ones that are found on http://www.advantech.com/products/su...ory_ID=1@29974
or was it taken out of a Shuttle? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatal...ystems_43.html (half way down the page)
cheers,
simon.

Simon,
It looks like you can fit one of those Micro-ATX boards in them. They're just as cheap as a std ATX board and should be just as good performance wise.
The only comprimise might be sticking with onboard video/sound/lan instead of fitting add-on cards in such a tight space.
I've been looking for something to do in my spare time and since my PC is in need of an upgrade, I think I'll take on the challenge.
If I could get hold of a 4-door Impreza shell, I'd build an RB5.

Yes, it's an MS-6340M M-ATX board. It has onboard video and sound but I don't use either of them. The sound chopped up lots when I was playing games, the video I never tried because the board has an AGP slot and I wanted to use that. This is my everyday desk top machine, I use it when I get home to play games with so I wasn't going to put up with onboard graphics. Check the specs page for details.
I got most of the parts locally but believe it or not, the rims came from the UK - from http://www.alansmodels.com, I could not get them from anywhere else.
Other than that, cables that I could not buy to fit were custom made, as were all of the brackets.
The body shell is the old model because I prefer it to the current shape. The current shape has grown on me, and you can now get the Kyosho shells this size in the new shape, but I still prefer this model. I discovered rallying watching Colin McRae throw one of these around and fell in love with the car, and I much admire his driving style and determination. Now if I could just find a way to get him to sign it for me, I'd be a very happy man .....

wrxpc-guy.

I take it heat inside the shell isn't a problem after you fitted those little fans? How's the noise too? Worst thing about PC's is the extra noise from the fans and disk

It sits (idles?) at around 40 degress. The liitle fans made all the difference, they basically pressurise the front of the shell and force the air inside towards the rear. The power supply fan sucks air out of the shell, so I get a forced front/rear air flow.
You are right though, it is a little loud, but it's worth putting up with to have on my desk. Just turn the volume up on the speakers one more notch :-)

Got a reply from Alan's Model shop re. 1/8th scale body shells.
Z-K\39767 Body/Decals 1:8 pre 2001 Subaru Impreza £64.99 Set
Z-K\39161 Body/Decals 1:8 2001 Subaru Impreza £65.99 Set
A bit steep for a bit of plastic, but that's the price for being different.

i have access to a mass industrial prototyper at work - so if we pool money together to buy 1 i might be able to make a few (need to find out what the logistics of this are from the guys at work..).. (body shells im on about )
i was thinking you could put a roof mounted air scoop to improve airflow around the case.. (or cut out around the grill area [if there is nothing in the way] put mesh in its place and utilise that too )
