I've just added an external expansion unit with a Fujitsu 4GB hard disk inside to a SparcStation 20 (how old - yes I know ). I've run the probe-scsi etc at the boot prom ok> prompt and done a reconfigure boot (boot -r). I can now see the disk using the format utility and re-partition as necessary but when I come to try and use the partitions either for swap or with newfs it comes back with the disk id followed by I/O error.
Have I forgotton to do something?

Cheers guys
HHxx,
The Ultra SCSi expansion box has an auto terminate feature on it, which is working. If you fit a manual terminator, it can't see the disk in it at all and the boot disk (in the sparc) can't be read from either.....
Simon,
How would I go about finding if I need a prom update or firmware?
Seems strange though as you can see the disk in the prom, can see it from unix too and can even run the format command and change the disks attributes etc...
Thanks
Neil
