She tried her service provider? Most have teams for this sort of thing.

THe message will ahve to go via an SMS gateway, the carrier providing this shuold have logs of what Ip sent the message, this should enable tracing back to the ISP and the end user.

Thumbs down

I kept getting sms text messages from a weirdo a few years back, was a real pain as I was oncall at work and needed the messages to wake me up if things went wrong at work overnight.

Not fun being woken up 4-5 times a night Reported to Orange, gave them he phone number of where they came from they did sod all about it.
Went on for 4 weeks before they got bored...

I'm always on call and kept receiving messages from genie, had a major problem being removed. If the message is coming from the same ID, i.e a number (although it could be 5555) the mobile complaints group can block that number to your mobile. I use SMS at work, the server sends me a text if their are any problems, the message is always shown as sender 1111. Have yet to find a way to trace it back.

Can you imagine the crap when all home phones are SMS !!!!

Good luck

Hey people, I work for one of these SMS providers and we get numerous call each day from the police askin who sent SMS messages. Depends how people a re sending messages, with us they have to register a vodafone mobile which vodafone can then trace, If there are still sites out there where you don't need to register I know lycos did it for a while then it could be some someone sittin in internet cafe and you'll find it really hard to trace them.

Who does it say the sms is from,
