Alternative to asp
#1
I have a load of microsoft software such as FrontPage, Visual InterDev etc. and was planning to use it to create a website. However, my isp doesn't provide frontpage extensions or support for asp unless I go for a more expensive deal so I'm a bit limited with what I can do. Are there alternatives to asp that provide the same functionality ? If so, what sort of software do I need ?
Thanks
Ken

Thanks for all the info.
I gave my isp a call and they have enabled frontpage extensions for me. They said they can't enable asp because everything is hosted on linux servers, I could change over to W2K servers but I would have to speak to someone in sales about this and it is considered an upgrade so would cost more.
They do provide perl and php so it looks like I'll give this a go instead. I might consider changing isp if I have further problems or when my current contract runs out next year.
Thanks again

It's spelled "Perl", and Perl is not interchangeable with PHP. PHP is purely a webserver scripting language that lives inside Apache, whereas Perl is a fully fledged interpreted language that you can use anywhere. Both have their own plus and minus points, but Perl is a hell of a lot more powerful if not only for the mass of modules and code already available written by people that really know what they're doing, so you know the code is tried and tested. You use the right tool for the right job rather than saying use one over the other regardless. Please don't mix the vegetables
