Si, whenever you try and use the browser to show your results, you must point it to the web server's address and not the absolute address...
Si has decided to code a cracking little asp site called supersi...
He's installed IIS and has thoughtfully created a folder called "supersi" that will hold his new site at:
c:\inetpub\wwwroot\supersi\index.asp
When he tries to preview his code, the browser URL points to:
c:\inetpub\wwwroot\supersi\index.asp and doesn't show the results properly...
However after some very wise advice, he changes the URL so it maps thru the web server (IIS), so changes the URL to:
http://localhost/supersi/index.asp
Hey PRESTO!

Hello
Now that you have the pages running, there are LOTS of websites to help you program in ASP. Try http://www.101-asp-tutorials.com/ or http://www.powerasp.com/
UltraDev is fine, but you will still need to "play" with the code that it generates.
Steve.

'ere you go mate - didn't get a chance over the weekend to sort you out.
IIS is now installed yeah?
Go to Administrative Tools > Internet Services Manager
Check 'Default Web Site' is running - if not, start it. Right-click 'Default Web Site' and go to Properties.
Click the 'Home Directory' tab and in the local path box enter the path to your 'web site' - i.e the directory with all web files in.
Open IE and browse to http://computername
E.g - I created a folder called intranet on my D:\ with all the web site files in. In the Home Directory properties my local path is D:\intranet. From IE i can go to http://ian to see my web site.
Make sure you've got a index.asp page in there (or similar - index.htm/.html, etc)
Ta-da!

Theoretically if someone knows your IP address they could view your site but you get IP's through DCHP don't you? Wouldn't panic just while your testing. Just stop the web site in the Internet Services Manager once finished testing.
As your testing I think scripts are executed safely with the default settings - under Home Directory tab set Permissions to Scripts only.

Are you running any kind of firewall on your pc?
I have had this problem before when running Zonealarm. You need to give IIS Server rights and permission to run with zonealarm before the MMC window will show and let you configure IIS.
If you are running Zonealarm, it should ask you if you want to give IIS server rights. If it doesn't, try running a program called iisreset.exe in the system32 folder of the WINNT directory. This stops and starts the webserver and Zonealarm should then pick it up when the web server restarts.
Hope this helps
