Pop up saved on Pc!!how do i delete?
#1
Sounds easy but i have a file named Tray stored on my hard drive.
If i goto explore hard drive the file is there, with no picture or symbol like the others and it says its an application.
When i access some sites this thing pops up talking about **** etc.I have done a search of the harddrive and the site seems to be stored in this tray application.I have deleated the cookies and History and Temp internet files but its still there?
When i goto delete this file it says its being used by windows.??
Anyone any ideas on how to get rid of these ba***** things.

do ctrl-alt-del and stop all task except (i think) systray and explorer. then delete the file.
also, have a look if something strange is being loaded on startup. goto start/run and type msconfig. click on the startup tab and have a look there.

hi suba,
did msconfig trick and in the startup line up there is a file called Shell loaded from registry(machine run)and the command is
c:\tray.exe
would this be it do you think??
Have they tricked the machine into thinking that it needs this application, because when i try to delete,it says windows is using it?
many thanks

Try using a startup disk and boot into DOS only. Then crappy windows won't be using it Then remove it from your hard disk and take the reference out of the registry if it is in there
