How can I set an alert for 100%cpu, I dont want to be alerted when it peaks at 100% just when we get a deadlock and it stays there for a given amount of time... Ideas / suggestions??

Guess who?
Do you want to write some code, or just do a general performance monitor type thing?
Don't know how to do it the last way (probably some composite of CPU time, idle time and queue length), but have an idea with writing code...

EDIT : Are you actually talking about deadlocked threads? Won't they deadlock to 0% CPU?

OK then
Write a service/app in VB that watches the performance counters that you are interested in (look at PerformanceCounterCategory).
Monitor this for whatever period you want at whatever frequency, and then fire a counter event of your own. Set the alert to fire when you're conter event happens.

Sorry I didn't have much time to help as I am pedal to the metal at the moment trying to do my 9-5 (or 8-12 as it is). Maybe in a week or so I will pick up the thread and see if I can't bash out something (ahem)
