Default Bought an s7

Don't know why I bothered as by the time I added a case to it it's virtually the same size as my note 4 but the screen seems so much smaller. I use Nova and by the time I changed the grid size the icons look tiny on the s7. I know the note 4 is such a good phone but at the minute I don't see anything special for the s7?

Games that run on my note won't install on the s7 even though both phones are on Marshmallow.

What am I missing?

Might be as simple as the game requiring a certain screen res.

Without a specific title hard to know.

What you on about the note 4 has a bigger screen than the S7, 5.7" versus 5.1" of the S7, didn't you research the specs before buying? lol Should have got the Edge which has a 5.5" screen, would seemed closer to your note 4 then with its small bezels.

It is an s7 edge, the screen is only 0.2" smaller but side by side it's a huge difference.

S7 Edge is fantastic; if you cant see the icons go to specsavers. The display is widely applauded everywhere...

Not too shabby on charging either.

If I'm honest I don't think it charges quickly but I have only ever charged it with the phone switched off and it definitely wasn't quick'

Here is the Note 4 and the Edge 7 side by side and as you can see there is an extra row of Icons on the Note and they are much bigger than the one's on the Edge. For such a small difference in screen size the Note is far bigger.

I just think apart from say being a bit faster there doesn't seem to be anything special about the Edge 7 over the Note 4.

Play with the padding settings and other settings in Nova, you'll be able to get it exactly the same with 8 rows, or simply have less icons on one page and create another, then all the icons will be a lot bigger overall.

Dam that's a mess though, you like your mobile gaming eh?

I see your mistake, you're not looking at all three sides of the screen at once. Bit of a cheek calling it the same size when you can't see it all at once isn't it?

what's the point in the edge anyway, if you have a case?

I went for the non-Edge, as I couldn't see the point.

Anyway, just looks like the reason for the icons issue is that the Note's icons have less space between the icon itself and the label of the icon, beneath it.

The icons are smaller, scaled to fit between the curves to maintain the five app width.

.

You do realise the cases don't cover the glass edge, plus I don't have to worry if I drop my phone as I work on the buildings .

The screen only has one side as you can't call a couple of mm glass curved edge a side and it doesn't have apps using any of the curved glass area.

It's all good, just a bit off to say the screen is fractionally smaller when compared to a flat screen.

Wouldn't have asked the question if I knew, hence the question. Thank you

I've got a serious case on mine that you could use on site but it would be no good for an Edge.

What is the benefit in the Edge, over and above the normal 7, I couldn't really see a massive benefit? Genuine question, not baiting for an argument.

I just wanted a slightly bigger screen but when I realized it was as big as my Note I wish I had just bought the normal 7

The first thing I did upon getting my edge was scale the screen, absolutely sublime and the display oozes quality.

Whats the benefit of the edge? well it is a bit of a fad but Samsung have tried to freshen up devices. You can get the night clock on the edge, the nifty way the edge glows also when face down is certainly cool, rss feeds etc as well as SHealth info can be put onto the edge in sleep mode.

Then there are the numerous paid apps you can get that utilise the edge or stock ones like CNN feed, ruler, compass, etc etc.

Yea i quite like the edge features to be honest although it is a bit of a fad like TP said, the contact functions alone are cool, i use it most just for the quick access to apps, kinda like a replacement for the quick toolbox that use to exist in Kitkat.

That would be a valid point if the s7e screen edge wasn't measured at 5.5" from the flat diagonals which it is. I just made sure before you respond. So if you take the edges into account its actually >5.5"

The edge is a design feature which makes it stand out from the crowd a little more.

Cool, thanks. Not missing out too much with the normal S7 then. I like the fact that when I turn it over I don't have anything sitting there glowing. Although I can understand how some would have good uses for that functionality.

Speaking of SHealth, I do really like that. They were giving away Samsung Gear watches with the S7's but I went for a Galaxy Tab instead. Kinda wish I got the watch!
