I purchased this very computer about 3 weeks ago and honestly can't fault it I haven't loaded any brand new games such as black ops 3 as I have a ps4 for that but I bought it for a few old games that I used to enjoy playing, I did add a 2gb graphics car to it for a extra £70 but does everything I think you'd need

Freshtech AMD 4.1Ghz 8GB 1TB FTS Gaming PC Windows 10 64Bit HDMI Vantage USB3 Computer Gigabyte F2A68HM-HD2 Motherboard 8GB DDR3 1600mhz Performance Ram Onboard AMD Radeon HD 8470D 500 Watt Power Supply With 12cm Fan 1tb Seagate Barracuda Sata 6Gb/s 64mb Cache 7200rpm https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B013QYSR..._yWkzwbKQ3YFJN

Sign up to forums like overclockers, you can sometimes come across a decent spec used pc that could box above the weight of a new lower spec 400 quid box.

I built a new gaming PC early last year..... purely for games (sounds obvious I know).

8GB RAM
i5 4670
DVD-R
Gaming case
B85 motherboard
600W 80 GOLD PSU
2TB HD
R9 280X
1080p 27" Display
£816

On top of that you'd need OS, Keyboard & Mouse, controller and speakers.

With a £1k you can build a good gaming setup imo. Saying this though, a couple of months back I junked the R9 and wanged in a 980ti (for over £500)! lol Now it's kick ***.

Phil its all down to the VGA card in most nowadays as long as you have 8gb ram and an half decent AMd or Intel itll play stuff.

Ring Chillblast and speak to Ben, he will guide you the best very good guy and will tell you how it is....

AMD are cheaper and will meet your budget, Intel Core i5 will run cooler
get either with 8gb or 16gb, i would say and an SSD but kids will fill an SSD quick so go with a 2tb spinner, run slower but work fine..

VGA card get as much as you can afford... i like ATI never got on with Nvidia.

I used to be red until recently swapping to green. Wish I'd done it years ago TBH.

Why not just buy a PS4 or an Xbox? Cheaper, less hassle and they'll probably enjoy it more.

Gotta laugh at the "glorious" PC "master" race who still have to wait years for games to be compatible with their precious computers.

I only bought my computer as I was fed up with new games like cod where you could triple jump run across walls and so on that just wasn't for me so bought a PC to play a few old school games that I used to love and a few more realistic shooters and it's taking me a while to using a key board instead of a controller but I'm enjoying it so far

I don't bother with consoles but if it's just for kids I wouldn't recommend a gaming PC. PS4 or XBone

I have a SteamLink so use my PC on my TV so get best of both.

I'm actually a PC gamer again now, but I believe that the big games are now developed on PS4 and ported. There was a high profile one recently where the PC version would never work.

I find now that Steam and thelikes of Origin have got their acts together, the days of frustratingly finding it difficult to get your games working and modding have gone.

And, the games look better!

I bought a gaming laptop, i7, 16gb ram, SSD RAID OS disk, Nividia GT860M. It has run everything I throw at it on maxium so far. I fear the thing that will be the weak point eventually is the GFX card, such is mobile, but there you go.

Another disappointing thing for me is that Occulus Rift will not work with any current laptop, nor any in the foreseeable future due to the way mobile GFX is implemented

Who told you that.... head of Sony marketing?

As far as I know nearly all games are developed on a PC platform, but constrained by the console target devices. Then the dev's have to spend more time on the PC versions to be able to take advantage of the extra grunt, by taking the shackles off.

It was Batman Arkham Knight, developed on PS4 and ported, but it was unfixable.

Just get a consol and save yourself an awful lot of bother and grief It's not all about the marginal increase in graphics or performance, it's about how enjoyable it is to play and you'll find it hard to enjoy a fiddly expensive gaming PC more than an "out the box" consol that just works with no waiting for games etc. Another thing to consider is that if you're buying for your kids(?) then surely their friends with have console anyway that they'll want to play against?

I'm still on an overclocked water cooled i5, it's running about 4.6ghz and use a r290 GPU. I can max everything out on my ultra res monitor . There is no way budget build would get my spec as most of your spend will be on a GPU.

I'm just in the throws of getting all the bits together to build my own gaming pc. Not sure whether it'll be worth waiting till after Xmas to possibly get better prices.

What you playing..... solitaire!

If you're running "ultra" res and everything maxed out on settings, you can't be running many of the proper GPU smashers. The r290 GPU is some way behind the likes of the 980ti.

I looked at a 980ti but it's pretty much twice the price of an r290.

You have to draw the line somewhere.
