Question

I have a dial up number does not work on NTL.
It begins with 00808 (I do mean 00808)

But when it is plugged into a BT line it works fine.

Anyone now why????????????

Very puzzled.. Apparently it is a freephone number? Do NTL not support some freephone numbers???

Thumbs up

Nick, 00 is the International dialing code in the UK. And 808 is not a valid country code.

BTOpenworld Anytime uses an 0808 number, and that must be dialed from a BT line.

00808 Is an international freephone number prefix. If you have an NTL box plugged into your BT line then this'll be a known problem as a lot of these smart boxes are not programmed for the newest prefixes released althought 00808 has been out ages.

Drop me an email for further info.

Is it 0808 993xxxx? If so, it's a BT FRIACO number and only accessable from BT lines.

00 normally indicates that an international number is being dialled, are you sure that it should be 00 at the beginning of the number?

Edited: Some dial-up providers specify that a BT line must be used, is this the case for the dial-up provider that you are using?
