for 45quid (includes postage) I can get you a X-Tender Modchip v1.1 :
Features:
- Plays every Xbox Game out, Originals, Import Originals and ALL Backups.
- Works on ALL models from ALL Regions.
- Flash upgradeable, for future improvements.
- Does not submit information to Microsoft when the Xbox is online, online gaming has been verified with copies.
- Works with CDR* media, any CD-RW media, any DVD-R media, any DVD-RW media.
- Will work fine if MS Updates the Kernel In future Xbox's (No need for Different version of the Xtender).
- Very Easy to Solder, Only basic Soldering skills required.
- Big solder points on both modchip PCB and X-box solder points.
- Runs unsigned code, as well as patched or modified files; this opens the door for homebrew/amateur development!
- Macrovision removed !
- NO PATCHES NEEDED !
let me know

I have to disagree with the comment on the size of the solder points on the XBOX board. They are literally the size of a "." Unless the person fitting is very proficient, it is better left to an experienced solderer. The ONLY saving grace, is unlike the PS2 Messiah chip, no points are on components. Considering the 30+ wires, it is a lengthy task.

The statement that the xtender mod being flash upgradeable is a load of
rubbish .. the CPLD is .. sure .. cos the JTAG lines are brought out
onto the **** end of the pcb .. unfortunately the WE# line of the TSOP
flash rom is permanently tied to ground , meaning that the chip would need
removing from the pcb for upgrading.
Also,a mate who 'did' himself 100 dvdr's found that 10% would not work on his machine. They worked fine on a couple of his mates modded x boxes but wouldnt work on others?
Yep the cheap dvdrs work on some xboxes but only burn at 1x speed!
Dvdr's are recommended for better results.
Up here the price for Enigmah installation is £85-00,that includes chip
Or wait for Messiah X,this modchip is only £20 with less wires to solder(20)

I'm really interested in getting this done, can someone email me some details or point me in the right direction?
Also is there anywhere localish to Northampton to get it fitted? I don't fancy sending it in the post.

There are plenty of web resources available for information on this kind of information. Instead of people being tempted to post information on here, you should have a look at http://www.cdrom-guide.com. All the answer to all questions are here. If you want to know about purchase and fitment of such products, look in the buy/trade/sale section. The site itself is very informative (must be one of the biggest BBS's of it's nature on the net), and has other very interesting stuff on it.

Channel tech are still trading although they dont venture into the modchip market anymore
Messiah has moved to Chinawhere ps2 modchips are made by the 1000's,they are nearly finished with the x-box version
a fully working ps2 Ntsc mod is now available for all import machine owners
