Does anyone know if there is a way to tell who the manufacturer of a PC is by the Windows OEM serial number or product key ??

Need to tie up some licensing loose ends, I tried Microsoft but they told me it was impossible, then again they told me it was impossible to tie a product key to a serial number and that is completely wrong.

You cannot tell who the compute manafacture is by the windows keys etc...

 

there is sometimes a file in the windows\system folder called oeminfo.txt - you might be able to get some info from that (depends in the PC manufacturer put in on the system at build time)
