The AP calipers are a much better design , and better made , but for the money the K sports are ok

Don't go by amount of pistons as its not that much of a difference between the 2 , I'd say they would be very similar in performance if you had the same spec discs and pads , if the Brembo set up had standard discs and pads then yes obviously the K sports with a good pad would be better.

No the front Brembos are way too powerful for a rear conversion , but there is no way they would fit on the rears anyway

Similar to the above...

I have a redundant front 330mm K-Sport kit off the car, not doing anything (I replaced it with the 330mm AP Racing CP5570 6-pot kit)... Can the KS kit be modded in some way so as to fit on the Classic (STi 5) rear hubs? (I'm running TD Monza R alloys, 7J x 17", ET45).

No again too powerful for a rear kit , and again doubt they would fit without going to huge discs.

The backplate where the calipers bolt onto the rear hub , is quite a large diameter , so if you wanted to fit another caliper , like the large front K sports , by the time you made a bracket to all fit , you would probably need about a 360mm disc !
So not only are you fitting a caliper that's too powerful , your fitting it onto a disc that's way too big for front to rear balance.

The AP rear kits , have the calipers made with lugs , so they bolt straight onto the backplates , they are not a radially mounted like the fronts with a separate bracket , they do it this way so they can fit a correct size disc to keep the balance correct front to rear.

You would both be better off selling what you have , and getting a proper rear kit

Sure, thought so. Thanks for the info.

In your opinion, is it actually worth fitting a decent rear kit (like AP, for example)... Or not worth it, seeing as most of the braking is done by the fronts anyway? (But that said, any extra breaking would be welcome, regardless)...

If it IS worthwhile, would it upset the balance and lock the rears/trigger ABS prematurely, etc., under heavy breaking?

(I'm currently running the Type R Subaru 2-pot conversion, with vented 290mm grooved/dimpled discs and OEM compound Mintex pads).

Apologies for the semi hijack of the thread.

No far from it , if you're running a 6 pot kit up front , I would highly recommend fitting a better rear kit , but one specially designed as a rear kit for the car in question , this would reduce nose diving under hard braking and make the car brake flatter , which keeps it more stable braking hard into a corner , a poorly designed kit with too much braking would see you swapping ends the first bend you were braking into.

A first upgrade for you would be the STi gold Brembo rear 2 pots and 316mm discs , this would be an improvement over what you have , or better still fit a rear AP 4 pot kit

These work very well , and are a proper designed rear calipers with smaller Pistons compared to a front caliper

Hope this helps
Cheers Ian

Hi
This kit has got my discs and bells , you would re-use the bells when it's time to change the discs , so the outer rotor with a set of nuts and bolts are £295 a pair , pads start at about £125 going up to over £300 a set
Cheers Ian
