If you go on cleanyourcar.co.uk or polishedbliss, you can get some good deals on rotary polisher and polish.
I got a silverline rotary polisher and have used dodo juice lime prime to good effects to get rid of swirl marks on the paintwork, i then used meguiars #7 glaze and then carlack sealent. Top this off with a wax of your choice, for the winter time i use collinite which is a heavy duty wax which gives more protection than shine, i applied one coat before the winter and it's still beading water well. For a wetter look you can go with dodo juice range which is more of a spring/summer wax, gives more shine but doesn't last as long.

Your car's paint is likely to be very hard and to correct it will require a machine polisher (our DAS 6 hard paint kit is here: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acata...-kit-cat1.html) If you've never used a machine before, I strongly advise you start with a Dual Action machine, not a rotary: the risk of burning the paint or removing too much paint is much, much higher with a rotary: if using a rotary you should use a paint depth gauge.
If you don't want to go down the machine route, you will see a good improvement with the Werkstat Acrylic Kit: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acata...-kit-cat1.html
Acrylic Prime is a chemical paint cleanser which will make a great improvement to the appearance of the paint finish, whilst Acrylic Jett Trigger is the sealant itself, offering great protection, aesthetics and water beading.
Acrylic Glos is a quick detailer product, best used after washing to sharpen up the finish and restore the small amount of protection lost in the wash stage.

Does it come with nine (or indeed any) pads?
Or 2 types of polish?
Or masking tape?
Or a detail brush to spur the pads with (crucial step which if missed out will lead to micromarring of the finish)?
Or pad cleaner?
Or a 125mm and 75mm backing plate?

...as an alternative I had tried Optimum OptiSeal - stupidly easy and quick to apply, it is a WOWA product and very durable, use it on wheels and glass. Also FinishKare FK1000P... good finish for white, very reflective, almost like another layer of Clearcoat... but its not as easy as Jeffs or OS.
Personally I am back on Jeffs Acryllic for my whites
