Default Clean up Prodrive back box

Hello

I have just bought a 2nd hand Prodrive back box and its a bit dirty. What do you recommend to get it shining like new? Its particularly dirty just on the outside of the lip of the tail pipe and just inside.

Cheers

Autosol metal polish. Get it from Halfrauds or any other good motor store. Not saying Halfrauds is a good motor store.

Briliant metal polishes; Metal Restorer applied using ultra-fine wire wool to clean up, then Stainless Steel & Aluminium Polish applied using a foam pad to refine the finish. See these links for zoomable images, usage instructions, a graphical specification and our thoughts about them...

Thanks for the above.

I have tried Autosol with quite a coarse wire wool which shifted a bit but not all. Is there anything stronger I can use? The Autosol didnt seem to help much.

PB. Will the products you recommend really make that much of a difference noting my comments above?

Thanks

Jeepers, it sounds pretty bad if autosol and wire wool won't budge it easily. In these cases, we almost always resort to using a Dremel power tool fitted with a selection of mini polishing brushes and heads. This is slow and tedious work, but it does allow excellent progress to be made. Given the difficulties you are having, you may also need to consider a more aggressive approach; the Blackfire metal polishing system offers this, but will require the use of a Dremel or similar, and also multiple stages (you have to compound first and then refine with a finer polish afterwards). More details in the Blackfire metal polish links on this master metal polishing link...

Might be worth visiting B&Q at the weekend and looking at the Dremel tools and accessories. Dead useful bit of kit to have to hand in cases like this.
