Polish? Wax?

Polish? Wax?
Im getting my black classic machine polished next week and was wondering whats best to keep it looking good. I dont want to pay silly amounts for the products but still want a half decent one.
Also whats best a wax or a polish I normaly use Autoglym polish or Turtle Wax wax.
Like I said looking for good but cheap product so if someone could recomend one and tell me were I can get it from. Do I have to get proper polishing mitts or the like cos at the moment I just use cotton rags.
Thanks.

Burbling, I'll vouch for the Nattys paste wax. It's so easy to apply and buff off. Minimal dusting too.
When I wash my cars, after drying, I would either apply a layer of Autoglym SRP as it masks scratches quite well and add a layer of Natty's afterwards, or just do the layer of Nattys straight on.
You need to understand polish is there for correcting defects and giving a nice shine. But you shouldn't be polishing too often as P.B. will hopefully agree with.
However wax is there as a sealent, a protectant for the cars bodywork in harsh conditions. This is why when I wash my current Pug and indeed when I washed old my red classic uk turbo, more often than not, I would apply wax after most washes.
That's why it winds me up when peopel say "cars all washed and polished", rather "washed and waxed", because thats what the bodywork needs more of, proetection not correction.
If you want, I have about 1/4 tub of Nattys paste wax which since buying a new more expensive wax, I dont need. Pm me your address, and it's yours. You can try it out and make your mind up dude.

No worries. Easily enough left to do a few layers. It does break down in the tub, but your supposed to apply it using a damp cloth or pad, which makes it loads easier. The water mixed with the wax sort of fuses and glazes on the bodywork. Then you just buff off. Smells like bubblegum too

I think the Menzerna FMJ is a fantastic product on Any Paintwork. worth considering IMO, layer it a few times and the depth of gloss is fantastic, really makes the flake in the paint "pop".
