Default Removing Sticky Fixerd

I have changed the plates on my car to slightly different size ones. The previous owner had used the sticky foam pads to secure the old plates so now they stick out below the new plate.
What is the best way to remove these without damaging the paint?

bug and tar remover or autosmart tardis if you can get hold off it

You can also use a hairdryer or heat gun to warm it up and peel it off

Label remover from Maplins would probably do it too, smells like oranges under your fingers for the rest of the day. Need to let it soak in for a few minutes.
