Cool Long weekend with a very dirty …… WRX

Hi all,

I finally got some time off work to really give my car a good going over which it really needed although I would say I really look after it weekly washes, it does do a lot of mileage down some really dirty local roads and motorways. I have also been running new AP 6pots on the front and track day pads front and rear which have really given my wheels some pain but the cars not for show so I have dedicated some time to get it back to the level that I am happy with.

Day 1

Ok half day really late start so just a wash using Meguiars Hyper Wash and a foam lance and then onto the 2 bucket method……. Followed up with a treatment of Autosmart Tardis . I was initially very scared of using this because of the strength of this product but I was very impressed with the results achieved and I am sure with more confidence these could be improved upon. And then finally I gave the engine bay a good going over with Meguiars Super Degreaser and then dressed with 303 Aerospace Protectant. Before the light completely disappeared on me I took the time to mask up trims to save me a job later....

Day 2 (very cold wet day)

Objective was to deal with the main problem area the wheels and arches. Due to the level of brake dust build up I decided that removing the wheels was the only way to achieve the desired results as the discs are so big that you can not even fit your fingers between them and the alloy… with the wheels removed I cleaned the brakes with p21s and then protected them with JEFFS Werkstatt Prime Strong. After this they where covered to ensure no damage (£2000 on front brakes I must be mad) the wheels and arches where then cleaned using Meguiars Wheel Brightener (1.1) and Super Degreaser. The wheels were then dressed with JEFFS Werkstatt Prime Strong, Poorboys Wheel Sealant and Blackfire Long Lasting Tyre Gel (one of my must have products)

Day 3

started off with a Quick going over with a mild clay only used on a few areas I missed with the Tardis, and then a going over of the inside of the car which to be honest was a 15 min job (i keep her clean ). Then JEFFS Werkstatt Prime Strong was used again for all the windows, one of PB tips and I was very impressed with the results . All the interior trim was dressed with Poorboys trim restorer as I prefer the smell over the other Poorboys product

Ok now starts the hard work and out comes the PC and the full range of Menzerna polishes to remove a few scratches and the inevitable swirls that get picked up with day to day use. This was followed up by the full Blackfire range including the new wax (2 coats so far) spread over 2 days as it requires 8 hours to set.. During this waiting time I went to work on the exhaust using Blackfire Fine and heavy Cut Metal Polish…

Pulled the car out into the sun and went to get the camera again and came back to find a bird had drop off a present for me ….. Stunning results tho not fully shown off by the overcast weather

Great work, dude. Looks a great finish.

Glad I'm not the only one who spends 4+ days cleaning the car.

fantastic job there, I would love a double garage to be able to do this, rather than waiting for a sunny day .

Quick question for you, what size front number plate do you have fitted?

Thanks
Daz

I was just about to post up on your thread in the main section ….. don’t know the size but its way small than the DVLA set size but the numbers and letters are correct just with the backing cut down to the perfect size ….. Got it made by fancyplates.co.uk and no probs and i have been pulled 7 times last year... (23-24 with a scooby does can cause a few issues )

Cheers Matey lol
I'v elooked on FancyPlates, their sizes are normal and 390mm x84mm (a 3/4 size) cut a template out and offered it up looks good, just they don't do 3D text to match the rear i have. Other companies do 3D but on the really small 12" x 3", might be asking for trouble?

Good job fella although around this time of the year the waeather is extremely unpredictable, I'll be doing the same when I know I can at least enjoy the effort for at least a week or so.

don’t tell every one that I am cheap …… more power is my 1st aim prob around the 350+ BHP and front racing bucket seats are on my list above the rest of the AP s but I am sure when the extra speed kicks in I will need more stopping power… they don’t ½ damage alloys tho

Thanks for the comments guys its very appreciated and makes the effort worth while. I gave her a quick wash yesterday and it came up looking as good as last week that’s what makes you realize
the value of proper paint protection, and how good the Blackfire range is….

Will drop you a email PB
