nice weather expected today, so may give the scoob a good clean.
thing is, only a few days ago i washed, dried, polished and waxed after that.
whats better for the car if i dont want to do everything everytime.
ie wash, dry and wax good enough for a nice sheen.
or should it be wash dry and polish.

heard differeng opinions about waxing a car more than polishing and vice versa. opinions on here guys?

just concerned, as when ive been washing my car for the last 8 months around once every two weeks on average, i always tend to polish afterwards. is this not good for the car.

for the record i use autoglym shampoo, lambswool mitt to wash. (2 bucket method too ) meguairs microfibre towels and squeegee to dry. then a coat of autoglym super resin polish with an applicator pad, then a buff with microfibre cloths. but recently ive aquired some nattys paste wax (poorboys i beleive) from a guy on here. only used once, and applied with a foam damp pad, buffed off one panel at a time.

dont think theres anything wrong with my method, but should i not polish everytime i wash, and maybe just wax instead. very rare for me to do neither id imagine. usually polsih or will wax after a wash.

as long as you don't wash it with soap liquid or something that will strip the wax then you only need to wax it every so often. Keep an eye on the beading and when it starts to loose it's tightness then it's time for more to be applied. An ideal solution is a wash that has a waz built in

 

nah wash it with autoglym car shampoo. that, and that only washes my car.

 

Basic routine that makes most sense is...

Weekly - wash, dry and quick detail

Monthly - as above, plus fresh coat of wax/sealant

6 Monthly - as above, plus clay and polish, but only if needed

Polishing any more often shouldn't be necessary, and will be removing too much paint from the car over time, even working by hand.

 

that will do me. the wax is brilliant. lasts soo much longer than the polish shine wise. and the dust seems to blow off easier when driving so after a few days and 100 odd miles, still looks uber sexy
