Polishing won't help to start with, a moderate to aggressive clay bar is what you need, full guide below to using them. The thing to remember here is that the problem is on the paint surface, not below the surface, and therefore, you need to exfoliate the overspray, leaving the sound underlying paint intact. There are three products in the store worth looking at; Meguiars Detailing Clay Aggressive, Blackfire Poly Clay II and Poorboy's Clay Bar (although this last one is only moderate strength). These clay bars will in all likelihood leave some marring, but if you then follow up with a decent finishing polish like Menzerna 106FF then all will be well...

Just reread the above, and if the overspray is actually forming a complete film rather than speckles, then it might be impossible to remove without a heavy compound, and even then it might need a rotary rather than a PC. Can you confirm the full extent of the overspray, and whether it's all full film or variable, with some areas of speckling?

Mmm, might be worth going to another bodyshop for some advice; hard to say without seeing it what would be best. If it feels sandpaper like chances are it's not a full film, but as I said, really need to see this one to advise properly.

Not trying to hijack the thread or anything but does anyone know how to remove superglue from paintwork?

My cars been to the garage and it looks like its got bloody superglue on it. I dont want to attempt to remove it without getting good advice before I have to go back (if I can even prove it was them).

Any advice is appreciated.

Strong tar & glue removers should do the trick, Autoglym make one that is mild, so worth starting with, then next on the list would be the one Autobrite make (www.autobrite.co.uk), and that we use for general tar removal. Many bodyshops will have suitable solvents for this, might be worth speaking to a local one for advice.

I have used a/g tar and glue before and it does the job, are you sure its glue cos i have seen tree sap on cars before, not just misted but in blobs, but again tar and glue will shift it.
