I've been told a good decorators soft sponge can work well?

 

funny enough that was what I was thinking - there was no lambs wool wash mit in sight!!

 

Applied the wax with his HANDS !!!!

and used £16 towels

 

Have you booked him yet ?

 

6 bloody grand for wax - you could buy your own set of bees from flea bay and make your own for less then that, what was the polish he used to get out the swirls?

Lol, had a few folk off detailing world on the blower tonight... "Rich, quit packing orders and check this out, Paul's using a single bucket!". To be honest I'm shocked... his work is top class, but a sponge and a single bucket? That said, context is everything. If I wash again after claying then I only use a single bucket. So, was he washing properly, or just doing a quick wash mid way through a detail (I didn't see the programme)?

Nope the bucket wash appeared to be straight after the jet wash...its repeated tonight at around midnight...

 

will have to watch that!!

True, but why chance making swirls or scrathes in the first place? Less effort required when buffing then.

For someone charging that much for a wash you would have thought he could afford a second bucket!

Yes! It might not just be a minor swirl he puts in it - if it's a deeper scratch from a piece of grit then more paint removal will be required, and on sports cars with soft, thin, expensive paint finishes this is far from ideal (particularly given that the owners like 100% correction in many cases).

 

the bucket was a sonax one which has a grille in it to keep the dirt below the level where your mitt is.

 

I'd personally still use two buckets, even when using a grit guard.
