Default Poor Paint - The Cure????

I have just recently bought a 97 Uk turbo in DBM, it has a fair few swirls in the paint, is there anyway of getting rid of this without a respray, i mean any cutting compounds that would cut beyond the swirls and the i could buff it all back up, as the car is nice apart from these.

The swirls diapear after a good polish but i dont want to have to polish it after every wash.

Would Some thing like G3 buffing Compound work??

Cheers

Staffy

Wow quick response as usual from the scooooooobbbynetters.

Cheers Guys.

Right then, i have noticed this Swirl Remover 1,2,2.5 and 3 stuff is recommended.

I have found a place on the net that sells it but what will i need.

I want to go as Far back as possible to get rid of as much as possible, also how do i use this stuff, or what do YOU do, because im sure what you guys do is what i should be doing.

What polisher do i need, i have two body shop orbital sanders, both two speed jobbies also have a power devil argos/halfords big daft round polisher never used that. Is one of these ok or shall i buy a smaller one, if so which one should i buy.

Obviously i have not read the bliss page yet as im at work but will make an interesting read for me tonight at home.

So basically what do you recommend i use and where can i get it

Have a good read of the guide to polishing on my site and then see what still needs answering - you will find many answers in the polishing guide! I would not recommend any polishers other than the Porter Cable 7424, as the throw on many dual action sanding units isn't long enough to ensure safe polishing. Another thing worth pointing out is the products you have been using must contain a high filler content - hence why the swirls temporarily dissappear, only to reappear again after a few washes. You should be able to correct your paint 100% unless the defects are very severe - the Menzerna range of polishes are the best I've come across, and are great to use with the Porter Cable. Have a read and post again with any remaining questions.

I have just read robertdon777's post about MENZERNA IP.

The pics in his post ae similar to mine, so I think i'll give it a blast.

If i follow all instructions and wash as guided, the Two bucket Method with the microfibre mit and Lanbswool Mit, and Clay Bar.

Then Polish using MENZERNA IP - Machine Applied

Then Glaze using Clearkote Red Moose - Machine Applied

Then Protect using Optimum Car Wax - Hand Applied

Are the above products going to be ok and give good results like robertdon777's classic, However mine is Dark Blue Mica would i get the same results if not what do you recommend.

All looks good except for the last step - not a product I would use on dark colours. If I were you I would bag a bargain bottle of Clearkote Carnuba Moose Wax (now just £9.95 while stocks last) and use that for the last step - this will give a really glossy, wet look. If you prefer shiny and reflective, swap to Menzern Finishing Touch Glaze topped with Menzerna FMJ. Use white polishing pads with the IP, maybe also orange light cut pads if needs be. The glaze (either one) goes on with a black glazing pad.
