Default Quote message in reply

Hello,
It may be that I'm stupid (in fact probable) but in a few of the posts I have been involved in some people are putting one line quotes in white boxes, I thought these were put in using the "quote message in reply?" tick box below the quick reply box but mine is greyed out, is there a setting I have done wrong cos I'm sure i have used it in the past, Thanks in advance,
Gary

Gary it can only be done by clicking on the REPLY button in the post you want to quote from. The whole reply will appear and you can edit accordingly to whatever you want to remain between the

tags

Cheers, yeah, i can do that but some people are quoting different parts of different replies, I assumed that when you use the quote message..... in the options box under the quick reply box you could scroll through the post and copy and paste parts of several different replies rather than just the one, sorry if I'm being thick,
Gary
