Default buddy lists - what's the point ?

Sorry for my ignorance but i'm puzzled

I've added some SN buddies to my 'buddy list' and thats about as much as i can do - nothing else can be done after . i was under the impression it was gonna be like the old VIP list where you could look at what posts they had started/replied to etc.

Is this another non-fully operational feature of SN3 ? if so, i will wait patiently, otherwise.....is that it ?

YOU WOT??? IS THIS REALLY TRUE??? so in effect we are being forced into subscribing to SN,if we want to use it how we did before the change over that is...if this is the case then i think its an absolute joke, can anybody confirm whether this is right or not?
