Default READ FIRST - Current Known Issues

IMPORTANT
It is essenstial that you read firstly this post, and secondly all replies before posting a bug or question, to make sure your question has not already been answered. Due to time constraints, we will have to ignore repeated questions, and possibly delete posts that change the direction of the thread due to this.

Target for initial bug fixes
Lots of work is now happening in order to get the major fixes in place within the next 2 weeks.

Search
Requires full database indexing of all posts from last site. Performing this indexing over the next week and will have up and running within 2 weeks from now.

Join Date
All users who did not have a join date in the last system will now have a join date of 1970. this is due to the different way that this software stores and handles dates. We will be creating join dates for those based on initial post date, and a few other bits of info and will be imported at some point over the next two weeks.

Edit Old Posts
The option has been set that members can only edit their own posts within half an hour of posting. This is to stop people going back and changing what they've typed.

UBB Code not working in some forums
This is an admin option that we will be rectifying shortly.

Under 13
This has now been resolved. Please check your profile to ensure everything is set how you want it, as we had to reset everyone's profile to standard.

VIP List
Is now Buddy List (in your profile), or click a username to add them to your buddy list. Currently you cannot add yourself to your buddy list. We will look at making a modification to the code after the initial priority items have been done.

Favourites and VIP Lists from old Board
We are working on importing these, and hope to have that done within the next 2 weeks also.

Missing Replies / Threads
All threads and posts should have been imported. Please check the following :
Options at the bottom of the page to show how long ago you want to see threads form (previous 2 day, previous month, etc).
When viewing the thread, the pages buttons (eg. to skip to page 4) only shows 5 pages, you need to click "last" to view the last page, or go through one at a time, and the list will change as you go.

If you have check both of those and are ABSOLUTELY sure that the posts are missing, please post a new thread stating "MISSING POSTS : [Thread Title]" in this forum and post the details as simply and clearly as possible.

We will investigate as soon as possible.

Can't Access Some Forums
The following forums are subscription only.
Fight Club
Scooby Lounge
Super Muppets
In addition, the For Sale forum is subscription only for post NEW THREADS. Anyone can reply.
Please see www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/subscriptions.php for information on the different subscriptions available form as little as £5.

Google Switch off for Plus Members
Apologies, we will get this working asap. I would expect it to happen within the next 4 - 5 days, depending on how long it takes to solve the server load issues. In the mean time, we've made them even less intrusive, but placing them completely seperate to the rest of the thread.

All the best

Simon

Question

Edit Old Posts
The option has been set that members can only edit their own posts within half an hour of posting. This is to stop people going back and changing what they've typed.
I think that only addresses a small reason for editing posts, thinking of the event posts it is common for the details to be changed and the first post is the best place to list these alterations... or is that where the threadmaster can edit it???

It is also common to 'edit' a post to 'copy' the formatting of the preceding post, say in event lists, even if the post itself is not re-submitted

A seller may also want to edit an original post containing a list of items for sale to remove the asking price and replace it to say that it's been sold

Hi Simon/Shaun - any idea when images will be allowed in projects forum? I get the "You may not post attachments" in posting rules, making it a little difficult to make any post regarding a project really

Thanks, Richard

Hi dowser

You should be able to include an image as you did on the old software using the [img]address[/img] tags.

If that doesn't work, it's because BB Code is not switched on in there yet. Please let us know.

All the best

http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/showthread.php?t=296969

on the midlands main thread, it says its only got 8 replies, but it has actually got 24 (at the moment).
and.... i can only view 20 of the replies (in default page viewing mode), its not putting up the additional page clicky button thingies.

Thanks matey

Hi chris

Could you explain what you mean exactly? For instance "It is the text that is within the actual posts that the user types". The reason for this, is that everything appears to be fine in my browser, but I do know of other people who mentioned something about centered text.

Cheers

Don't know if anyone has spotted this, or it's intentional but the "From" prefix has disappeared by people's locations under their username.

Cheers,

Don't know if this is a known one but when I tried to quote someone in Computer Related I got the message . . . .

The following errors occurred when this message was submitted:
You have included too many images in your signature or in your previous post. Please go back and correct the problem and then continue again.

Images include use of smilies, the vB code [img] tag and HTML <img> tags. The use of these is all subject to them being enabled by the administrator.

Is this the UBB code thing ? I didn't attach any images ?

Here's a good one

I tried to copy and paste a URL from an email into a post. So, I type (w/o the spaces, obviously):

[ url ] CTRL-V [ /url ]

...to copy the contents of the clipboard into the post between URL tags. This always used to work fine.

Now, however, it looks as though vBulletin isn't just interpreting the text of the URL, it's interpreting the formatting information that was also copied to the clipboard. So, I ended up with this:

http://<span style="font-family:Aria..._e.html</span>

This looks absolutely fine whilst posting (although the font is slightly different), but of course, doesn't make for a valid link. Copying the contents of the clipboard into Notepad and then copying from the Notepad window has the effect of stripping out the formatting info, so then I get:

http://www.datacraft.co.jp/takagism/index_e.html

... which is exactly what I wanted.

I suspect that this problem only occurs with the full WYSIWYG editor and not the quick reply - I was starting a new thread at the time.

Bug in vBulletin, perhaps?

Andy.

Quick reply: if this works then the bug is confined to the WYSIWYG editor, otherwise it affects all posts:

http://www.datacraft.co.jp/takagism/index_e.html

Simon

In work i'm on ADSL and SN takes an age to load pages up (around 5 mins in some instances) and many other times i get timed out. This has only happened over the last few days.

At home i'm on dial up and i dont have any probs. I've tried a few different machines in work but i get the same result. Please note that i dont get this problem with any other website or BBS, just this one

Can anyone help me coz its practically unusable in work

There was a limit of 5 pictures per post, which I've just upped to 10.

The timezone used in email notifications is wrong. I have the timezone and DST set correctly for the forum, and that's fine on posts, but the email notifications have a GMT timezone (+0000) so they always appear to be from one hour in the future.
