Question

Having spent hours trying to find a previous post on a certain topic (and failed) it occurred to me that it would be extremely useful when searching to be able to limit the parts of the forum that the search engine looks in.

For example, if I wanted to find what a PPP ECU was worth for example it would make sense to be anle to limit the search to just the "for sale" section of the forum. I would not be interested in the technical stuff, but would be bombarded with it as search results even though it is of no interest to my example search.

So how about adding this as a feature on the search ?

Question

While you're at it how about being allowed to search for "keyword1 AND keyword2" ? At the moment the search engine seems to default to "keyword1 OR keyword2" which is not as useful IMHO.

I just tried to search for posts about dashboard removal. If I type dashboard on its own I get way over 50 hits. I'm sure if I could limit it to only those posts containing both "dashboard" and "removal" the number of hits would be much more manageable.

Thirded. The search facilities are very basic for such a busy site.

Better search facilities are essential. I realise that search uses a lot of bandwidth but it would massively cut down on the countless duplicate topics that are posted.

I often have post a new topic because the search doesn't allow me to find an old topic, even if I know that my question will have almost certainly been asked before.

Funny, I came here to ask this very question, just the ability to search within 1 particular forum would improve it 100%
