Default subaru forester turbo info

Hi all.

Having previously owned a 2002 uk wrx, a 1993 import wrx and a 2000 legacy b4 rsk i am not new to subarus. i do however have very limited knowledge of the forester turbo.

I have read the forester turbo has 125bhp, which seems an incredibly low output for the 2.0 turbo engine. is this corect?

Is it just a de-tuned version of the engine found in the impreza? If so could the power be brought up to over 200bhp with a few simple mods?

I have also noticed the forester is considerably cheaper than an equivelant age/milage impreza turbo. is this just because its less desirable or are there known faults with them?

I have £2k to spend on getting one, for which ive found a few 02/03 with low milage which makes it appealing to me. The only impreza's available to me on this budget are all non turbo models or cars needing work , which im not interested in.

Any advice/opinions/info will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, dave

The 2003 model change means the std 2.0 turbo outputs an alleged 174bhp but it'll probably cost you an extra £1k. Doesn't answer your question I know but just sayin'....
Plus I want to see what responses you get and answering seems the easiest way
