Hi all
My 06 hawkeye wrx has developed a knock which sounds like the exhaust but checked the exhaust and it seems to be okay?
Any ideas??

Rear shocks??

 

Rear shocks are a common issue on the hawks.

If you can, get the rear of the car on axle stands, lift the protective plastic from the strut. If you see dark bands on the exposed shiny metal that's the problem.

The OEM struts had/have and issue of "running out" of grease so they knock. I have this and a but of white lithium grease every few months helps but they'll need replacing at some point.

Could also be anti roll bar drop links that knock, not expensive to fix.

I kinda thought it might be It just sounded so like the exhaust!!
I would have searched but i was on the app on my phone at work so wasnt able to search properly. It could be the anti roll bar will get the garage to have a look :-)

Well had a proper look and an exhaust hanger had broke
