hawkeye sti 6 speed g/box to hawkeye wrx
Hi guys n gals this is just for future reference.
is it possible and how to go about putting a hawkeye 6 speed box onto a hawkeye wrx.
Thinking of what power i want and if i want 300bhp i might aswell go for 350 ish.
will standard box handle this or will it need going 6 speed?
if so does anyone know where to start lol
thanks in advance

I thought the hawkeye 5 speed was a tougher box anyway? Well tougher than the the older 5 speeds I'm sure there's plenty on here running 350 on them, depends how you drive of course

I think in general if you're aiming for 400 power wise then generally speaking you're gonna be better with a 6 speed box especially if your intending to use the power like a hooligan, although I would think its torque that will destroy a box rather than bhp figures.

Hawkeye WRX 5 speeds aren't so bad. Do you launch/track/traffic light GP regularly?
Can you afford the 6 speed? If yes then why not run the 5 speed until/if it goes and then you have lost nothing. They are often also fairly easy to fix when they go or cheap to get another one. This is what I am doing - 462BHP/490lbft - 4000 miles and counting. Also ran at 362bhp/350lbft for 15 000 miles previously with no probs at all - still as good as when I got it from the showroom. I will add I do not launch it ever or do traffic light GP's etc but it does get used properly at least once a week.
