Default Knocking nose, big spring on my drive?

The last two days I have been haing knocking noises which sounds like its coming from behind the steering wheel area or could be the around wheel, only notice it under 40mph ( because of the load exhaust noise ) and goes faster as you exceleration and stops when break pedal is applied . I found a huge spring on my drive and it was not their a couple of days ago when this knocking sound was not present.
Can anyone I'd the culprit or is it nothing to do with my problem and just a coincidence it is their

Two long bolts with springs on holding the joint together.

Suprised if the exhaust isn't blowing

Exhaust seems fine, its a straight through de cat . Makes me thinks if its a neighbours and its blown over, doesn't explain my knocking sound though.

Thanks for the replies guys

A car I had, the handbrake cable came unclipped from the car's underside, and made contact with the rear wheel. Every time the balance weight came round it "bumped".
