As above I have a bugeye wagon that's had an issue for ages now its doing my head in I had play in the wheel so I changed my wheel bearing and bottom ball joint today but I'm still getting a vibration between 70-80 what else should I change by process of elimination ??

 

is the wheel buckled, have you had it balanced and checked tyre for damage?

 

Front tyres?
front wheels?/

either could be oval and that would do it.

 

I hope it's not a buckled wheel I am getting my wheels balanced tomorrow at a mates garage would that show up a knackered alloy and the tyre seems fine also

 

Does it do it all the time ? Under braking or not at 70-80? Or just drivving on a straight section of motorway? Have you changed wheels/tires recently?

Imo Either a balancing issue or bad wheels. Also causes of vibration , could be sticking calipers, ties rods ends (ball joint has colapsed)

 

It's just at around that speed surely track rods would just cause the steering to vear one way not a vibration the I have just replaced the ball joint on the driverside the vibration is quite bad through the steering wheel was told if its bad on the gearstick it could be shaft related what about the shaft could that be an issue as it is a second hand one
Also I'm not getting hot brakes so don't think it's a sticky calliper

 

If it comes at 70 ish and then goes at 80 or over. Thats typical wheel balancing issues

 

Swap front wheels to bact to at least rule out wheel/tyre issue , and its easy .

 

What about the other questions I asked?

 

As I stated it does it between 70-80 mph when driving no braking or anything else evolved its fine below this speed ill see what happens with the balancing tomorrow hopefully this will show something

 

On our Xantia, the car vibrated at 60-65 mph.

We tried quite a few things, but changing the REAR tyres sorted it.

 

Ok I'll have a good look at the tyres there not that old set of hankook evos so not budgets either

 

Will just need wheels balancing,had it before on other vehicles.

 

No one on here believes me but I solved this by finding my air box loose on the mounting to the car

 

Well I got my wheels off today to find the front near side wheel had quite a bad bump in the inner edge of the alloy when the wheel was off the car u could really see and feel it so about 98 percent it's that gutted new set of alloys and tyres needed I think will try another set just to be sure though
