Default Hard rad hoses

Hi all have had my clasdic scoob off the road since september for the winter. Ive had the engine out of it and replaced the head gaskets ( with cometic ones )as had very hard radiator hoses on it when it was revved either hot or cold. Had the heads both skimmed and valves all ground back in. Its all in and running best since ive owned it. But revved it in garage today the turbo boosted as dump valve blew off a bit and the top hose felt hard ( not as hard as before ) but as i know its not the head gaskets as its not turned a wheel since the new ones fitted. What else could it be.
I had it sniff tested before i changed the head gaskets and all was good but wanted to change them anyway.
Thanks for any help.

The top rad hose will be hard if hot or cold because of the pressure and its full of water.

If the bottom hose is ok when cold then gets harder when it's hot all is fine.

Do you have any overheating issues?
