Default What does the MAF sensor actually do?

I know it may seem like a silly question but still new to turbo cars. Just come back from Subaru 4 You since was going to get some seats from them but unfortunitly they were in the same state as my originals so they repaired my originals but also to get the power stearing looked at and a stutter at high revs in 5th looked at. Only problem they could find was the Boost valve was full of crap and the MAF sensor was reading max setting at 1.06mv what ever that means. Can you reset the MAF or would it just be easier to buy a new one and keep and eye on the boost valve?

MAF = Mass AirFlow meter, it measures the amount of air coming into the engine and in basic terms notes how much air/fuel you need (in conjuntion with the ecu etc).

If yours if faulty then replace with a new one, they are not expensive (100-120 quid) as not doing so can cost you a new engine (and has done to many an MY99/00 car).

That is correct. Avoid driving it if the MAF is faulty.

Its easy to fit but you need a "security" torq drive (has a hole in the middle) to unscrew it (unless its already been broken off....)
