Just though i'd share that!

Got a twin dump and finally got round to fitting it. Also have SS backbox and ITG panel. Hitting 1 bar boost on MY99 UK

The difference is really unbelieveble, worth every penny (inc the astronomical fitting cost!) If anyone is considering a DP, this beast has to be near the top of the list.

The rev counter really flies round now, and I wouls say this is the best pound for pound mod you can do. It sounds beefier too, lots of suction, turbo spin etc... you can hear it quite nicely with the stereo off

Not a big fan of those 2 items! Had them before and screwed the car up a bit. I liked the sound though!

whilst on this subject ! Do you know whether I'd get away with fitting a SS/Magnex DP to my 93WRX, and refitting an original OEM Mid-section with CAT...would this pass an MOT ? And would a decat DP and cat mid section give better performance gains than a catted DP and decat midsection?

Alex,
seeing as you're in Essex, if you go and see that nice man at scoobysport come mot time, he'll sort it for you, however, I reckon you should get away with no cats anyway, due to your car an older import, ask the mot tester, see what he has to say!

Question

Mr. Dark Blue Mark,
what do you mean is screwed your car up?

I have a full Magnex straight through on a MY99 and I am dying to know. Did you loose your engine or what?

dmel,

I *think* he means the induction kit would have taken out his MAF sensor. Some dump valves also mess up idling and fuel mixture. On the subaru you need a twin piston vent to atmos, or a recirculating dump valve.

Cheers

Spot on Iain, it was the filter and DV that did it.

Exhaust is fine.

MB,

Did you look at other DP's before deciding on the Magnex?

I'm looking and am undecided between the twin DP (Magnex/ PE T75) and single open neck style (SS / TSL) ...

Yep, but i've had magnex stuff before and really rate their stuff, plus it has the wastegate gas allowance. Did look at the PE one and it looks very similar, but the Magnex is better priced.

If you do go for it, get it from DRmotorsport or Falkland and make sure its a newer type where all the brackets fit properly. I got one of the first 5 made and the brackets needed adjusting. Bugger of a job.

MB,

Cheers for that. I've heard that the Magnex DP's need a bit of work to get 'em to fit ... are you saying that they have sorted it now? I know the PE one fits well, but as you say, is muchose dosh at 450.00 inc'g fitting and VAT!

Did you think about Single Open Neck DP's at all?

Nice on RON, that would be my plan if all goes well thinking of the noise increase though at the moment!

Also I heard performance wise a SS type is as good as any so how does the extra pipe on the Magnex help I wonder?

Whilst on this subject, does anyone know if just a centre cat would pass an MOT ? And would it badly ruin the performance gains?

£170

Apparently if you only have a centre cat and you get it pretty hot, you may scrape through an MOT. Not sure if this has been tested. Leaving the centre cat in will not lose you too much power, probably a few horsies as the restriction is small. It will reduce the noise a bit too.

I went for the twin dump, I felt that relief for the wastegate gas had to be a good thing. I read a long thread about it and sounded like extra capacity was useful.

On a previous car it gave 260 BHP, which was a very accurate road.

I mean I have a Magnex back and centre on mine.It gets through the MOT just fine (1995 RA). I reckon the downpipe may make an little extra difference. I may go back to an ITG panel filter too

I also have a Magnex. Performance wise was no different to my mate with a full SS.

The magnex twin dump rejoins just before the bend too so the waste gases don't get mixed up near the turbo which is the best design for a twin dump. As for price - nothing comes close for the quality.
