Default somethings wrong!

hi, was on here yesterday, trying to find out about fault finding & had some good advice, thank you, well, ive a bit of an update since then & wonder if someone could offer some help/advice etc, or may even know what it is, as i cant get the diagnostics done till next week, this is how it goes, ive a 1995 uk turbo impreza, had it 3 weeks, & it ran great, went to put blue dash lights in & saw the engine check bulb missing, so put 1 in & now i know why it had been taken out as when i start the car its fine, starts 1st time, no issues, ticks over great, then ill blip the throttle & engine check light comes on, then when i go to pull away, she farts, pops, splutters 4 about 2 to 5 mins, then clears, light goes out, runs like a dream, but the light comes on every now & again, but she runs fine. then say i go home, leave it for hour or so, then go out again, it does the same thing over again. prior to this {allthough i had no check bulb in}, i went to cornwal & back & she ran great, but obviously i didnt have a bulb in, so the light may or may not have been on during that trip, but it ran great ave 28-30mpg, & had no issues. this is my 1st impreza so am in need of some help etc as the mechanics of it are a bit out of my league. if you want, you can contact me on my mobile 07544378933,thank you for reading & hope to hear from someone

ah, that sounds very similar mate, thank you, what did you do to remedy it? as 4 the fault code, i cant get it read till next week unfortunately, & i dont have the knowledge or tools to do it myself, so, im kinda stuck with regards to the fault finding & codes. let me know what you did to rectify yours, as, it certainly sounds very similar, what ever you did is worth a try on mine, thank you very much for your help, really appreciate it

I would suspect that faz27 has as Newage Impreza as the early cars don't record codes like that.

The only tools you need are already on your car you just need to find the connectors underneath the steering column, they can be hard to find though as if they've never been used they will still be taped up (check the link I put up in your other post as it shows a picture of what you should be looking for )

ok mate, thank you for that, your info has been really helpful so far, i showed my mechanic what you said & all the info with it, but he cant do anything till next week, & as i was saying in my earlier post, this was an update of all the info i can give as to what she does, & when it happens & was just trying to see if anyone with a similar car may have had the same issue with theirs & could give me some clues of what it could be & how to rectify it before next week, i know i may be fishing, but as i said before, im completely new to imprezas & mechanically am totally over my head with it, read my earlier post & in my words thats what she does & when she does it. i do really appreciate your help mate, & thank you for it, hope you may be able to continue to do so, hope to hear from you soon. my mobile is on my earlier post if you wanna call me tomorrow, cheers mate

as its a 1995 the fault code wires are under the steering wheel area 2green and 2 black you need to connect them and pull up the fault code/s long flash =10 short flash =1 count them with ignition on and hey presto you shoul know what up , for testing codes only connect the 2 black wires do this and then check the codes on
