2004 UK STi Coolant / service items
I plan on doing a service soon, I have found most information on here about bits I want to do but the coolant is the one confusing me. From what I have found this one is correct -

can anyone confirm this for me?
Also any recomendations on gearbox oil, diff oil & what plugs to use would be much appreciated.

Hell mate, everyone will say something different regarding oil... Have a search on the site. I have been using Fuchs race pro s 10 -50w in my 2002 sti ppp for the past 2 services, no probs at all. As for plugs I would use the standard ngk 6 items unless heavily modified then would go for the 7's (am sure a decent tuner can clarify this) I am just about to service mine and have gone for motul 300 gearbox oil as have heard decent reviews, no idea what's in the box ATM though. I cannot comment on the coolant. Probably the best person to speak to about oil is oil man on here (opie oils) Hope that helps abit.
Thanks for the advice on the gearbox n plugs mate. What engine oil to use was an issue on my last oil change & decided on Millers which I'm happy with. Should have mentioned it is standard. Just need to sort out the coolant decision.
I went for Millers Oils Alpine Antifreeze Extend - Red Longlife Antifreeze / Coolant in my bug when I did the coolant. Like you I was a little confused at first & as there are very few Subaru dealers around, I did a bit of research and settled for the millers coolant.
Coolant isn't critical, so long as you stick to a few rules:
ALWAYS use one designed for an alloy engine.
ALWAYS use one with a corrosion inhibitor.
ALWAYS use the correct concentration, usually 50%.
NEVER mix types.
Make and colour of antifreeze don't matter so long as you stick to those rules.
