Default crankshaft

hi there iv had my scooby for about 2 years, in april i had the cambelt done and had to put a new crank pulley an bolt on, iv only used the car a handfull of time and yesterday i lost powersteering, opened the bonnet and the fan belt had come off and the crank pulley was that loose i could to it off with my hand, can anyone give me any pointers why it might of done this, someone said the crank has gone??? plz help

make sure the keyway on the crank is still ok, if it is use a bit of loctite on the threads to help keep the bolt tight and make sure you tighten the pulley bolt nice and tight, i usually get a second person to put the car in 5th gear with the foot brake applied and i do the bolt up with a breaker bar.

ok thanks mate so doesnt mean that the crank has gone then just the nut wasnt tightend enough
