Default 05 Engine Limit

Hi all,

I know this has probably been posted before but what are people saying is the limit for a 2005 UK STI? I have seen some performance companies saying 380-400bhp with other companies/members saying they are/have run over that power comfortably for a long period of time for example - Jolly Green Monster. I read his thread where I believe it was 450hp or something around that for a long period of time. What part of the engine breaks down first i.e - pistons/rods etc.

Thanks

Steve

Most dont exceed more than the low 400's, this is probably the safest limit to aim for, some have run 500bhp on standard internals and been ok, some have let go at that level.
Reliability varies from car to car, keep it lowish and you will have a nice, reliable motor

What gives out first on the engine though. A friend has a Renault Megane R26 that was running 340hp and the other day he bent two of the rods but the pistons and everything was immaculate. I'm just wondering if its say the rods or pistons that give out first.
